Will PM Modi and Trump speak over a call as Indian negotiators are confirmed to be in Washington?

India has reportedly agreed to a scheduled phone call between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump as a trade delegation from New Delhi arrives in Washington for crucial discussions. The conversation is expected to focus on resolving trade frictions and deepening economic cooperation between the two nations. Officials say the timing of the call underscores the importance both sides attach to the negotiations. The Indian delegation is set to hold talks with U.S. counterparts on tariff issues, market access, and investment opportunities. Diplomatic sources indicate that the Modi-Trump call will serve as a political push to smoothen the way for progress in the high-stakes dialogue.

On English–BJP and RSS

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said  last month those who speak in English in India would ‘soon feel ashamed’.  On the other hand, RSS Chief  in Delhi said that there was nothing wrong with learning English as a language. “English is just a language, what’s the harm in learning a language?”, he asked.

Did PM Modi have private in-person meet with few top bureaucrats in Manipur?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Manipur, where he inaugurated projects worth ₹7,300 crore and met internally displaced families, also appears to have included a more discreet engagement away from the public eye. According to sources, the Prime Minister is believed to have held a private in-person meeting with top bureaucrats and senior police officials overseeing the fragile situation in the state. In this closed-door interaction, Modi reportedly urged officers to speak candidly about the realities on the ground, pressing them for unfiltered assessments of the challenges in restoring peace. The meeting is said to have been free-flowing, with the Prime Minister encouraging open discussion rather than a formal briefing. Those present were asked to highlight not just administrative progress but also the difficulties encountered in resettlement efforts, law and order, and community reconciliation. While official details remain unavailable, insiders suggest that Modi wanted a direct sense of the mood among officers tasked with rebuilding normalcy. The conversation is believed to have gone beyond project implementation to touch on trust-building measures at the grassroots.

First India SAF Conclave & Awards 2025: Global leaders unite to shape future of sustainable aviation (UPDATED)

The inaugural India SAF Conclave and Awards 2025 successfully convened on September 15 in New Delhi, marking a historic milestone in India’s journey towards sustainable aviation. The landmark event brought together global leaders, policymakers, innovators, and industry stakeholders to shape a cleaner, more resilient future for the aviation sector through Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Organized by the SAF Association, the conclave carried the theme “Powering the Future of Sustainable Aviation” with a special focus on building a “Farm to Aviation Fuel Economy.” The event spotlighted India’s vast potential to become a global hub for SAF innovation, feedstock production, and deployment. Rohit Kumar, Secretary General of SAF Association, emphasized the need for a unified approach, stating, “SAF Association is a collective platform for catalysing and shaping India's SAF roadmap by aligning efforts with global initiatives. Through collaboration, technology, and policy, we can make India a SAF powerhouse.” He added, “Sustainable Aviation Fuel represents a significant opportunity for the 'Make in India' initiative due to its potential to boost domestic manufacturing, reduce reliance on imports, and promote green energy innovation. SAF is important for India for several strategic, environmental, and economic reasons.” Jimmy Olsson, President of the SAF Association, highlighted the socio-economic potential of SAF in India. “SAF is a natural fit for Make in India – it combines green energy goals with economic development, technological innovation, and job creation in rural parts of India. By investing in SAF, India can lead the global shift toward sustainable aviation while strengthening its domestic industry,” he said. Shashank Chaudhary, Additional CEO of Invest UP, underlined the role of states in SAF development. “Uttar Pradesh government is projecting itself as the national hub for SAF production. We are promoting doubling the farmers’ income with our initiatives,” he stated. Dr. Anita Gupta from the Department of Science and Technology stressed the importance of talent and innovation in building the SAF ecosystem. “There is greater need to empower the sustainable aviation fuel ecosystem. There are unique opportunities that India possesses as we have a huge talent pool,” she noted. With over 750 million metric tonnes of biomass and 230 million metric tonnes of surplus agricultural residue annually, India stands uniquely positioned to meet its domestic SAF needs and emerge as a global exporter. As the world’s third-largest domestic aviation market, India’s clean fuel push aligns well with its feedstock availability, cost-effective production, and supportive policy environment.

Reasons for returning the registered post envelopes to the sender without any endorsement

Three registered post envelopes were returned to the sender (District Judge) without being delivered. With reference to three registered postal envelopes which were returned without affixing any remark on the envelopes, the appellant requested to provide the reasons for return. The Department of Post submitted that the three registered articles, referred to in the RTI application, were returned with remarks “receiver not at address”. Further, it was submitted that the reply sent in response to the RTI application was inadvertently sent at the incorrect address, hence, could not be timely delivered. However, on receipt of the return mail, they rectified the address and communicated the information to the appellant on 09.02.2024. The CIC observed that the respondent initially replied on 14.12.2023 but the same was not delivered timely to the appellant due to incorrect address. The CIC accepted the clarification provided by the PIO that the delay in response to the RTI application was inadvertent and had occurred on account of incorrect address being mentioned in the dispatch letter. Holding that due information has been furnished and the delay caused on the PIO’s part does not appear to be deliberate, the CIC disposed the appeal.

Comments

If the delay in reply by the PIO is unintentional and due to an inadvertent error, there is no penal liability as there is no malafide denial of information.
