MP's Tukaram Mundhe- IAS Arvind Shah cleaning the healthcare system

IAS Arvind Shah, CEO of Ayushman Bharat in Madhya Pradesh is leading a strong crackdown on hospitals under the scheme. In just about two months of taking charge, more than 30 raids and notices have been carried out against hospitals, with 83 hospitals facing action in 2026 so far. Of these 18 have been de-empanelled and blacklisted while 50 have been fined for more than ₹3.13 crore.

Shah’s strict actions against irregularities has created a sense of fear among the private healthcare institutions, showcasing a strong stance of the MP govt. He is a 2021 Batch Officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre with an engineering and software background. Bringing technology and AI to forefront, the department is also mapping doctors and the number of hospitals they are associated with. The analysis has found cases of doctors being associated with as many as 40 hospitals while also checking how far these hospitals are located from each other.
