PM dedicates POWERGRID's two projects and lays foundation for one project in AP

Visakhapatnam: PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for one transmission project and dedicated two significant transmission projects of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna PSU under the Union Ministry of Power, marking another major milestone in India's clean energy transition.

On this occasion, S Abdul Nazeer, Governor of Andhra Pradesh; Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Governor of Goa; N Chandrababu Naidu, CM of Andhra Pradesh; K. Pawan Kalyan, Deputy CM of AP; Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Union Minister of Civil Aviation; Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications; Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Steel; and Nara Lokesh, Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Andhra Pradesh, were present.

PM Modi dedicated two key transmission projects implemented by POWERGRID. These include the transmission system for Kurnool Wind Energy Zone/Solar Energy Zone (Andhra Pradesh) – Part A & Part B, developed at an investment of approximately Rs 3,547 crore, and the transmission system for the Solar Energy Zone in Ananthapuram (2,500 MW) and Kurnool (1,000 MW), developed at an investment of approximately Rs 823 crore. These projects have been developed to facilitate the evacuation of renewable energy generated in the Kurnool and Ananthapuram renewable energy zones and its seamless transfer to beneficiaries across the National Grid.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the transmission system for the integration of Kurnool-IV Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) – Phase I (4.5 GW), to be developed at an investment of approximately Rs 5,550 crore. The project will strengthen the transmission network for integrating an additional 4.5 GW of renewable energy from the Kurnool Renewable Energy Zone into the National Grid.
