Submarines will be armed with updated BrahMos missiles

Multiple reports highlight progress on the Indian Navy’s nuclear-powered attack submarine (SSN) project under the Atmanirbhar initiative, involving Larsen & Toubro and DRDO. The submarines will be armed with updated BrahMos missiles and hypersonic missiles (1,500-2,000 km range), with the first rollout predicted by 2032. Speculations suggest this will enhance blue-water capabilities against regional threats, marking a shift toward indigenous nuclear propulsion.
