NSIC celebrates 70 years of service to the nation (UPDATED)

Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Jitan Ram Manjhi inaugurated NSIC's 70thFoundation day at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. He congratulated NSIC on completing seven decades of dedicated service to the MSME sector and lauded its role as a catalyst in strengthening and nurturing India’s vibrant MSMEs. He emphasized the importance of creating widespread awareness of NSIC’s schemes among entrepreneurs and highlighted the need to provide comprehensive handholding support to MSMEs, particularly in the domains of capacity building, innovation support, and digital adoption.

The 70th Year celebration also featured a Foundation Day Lecture delivered by Dr V Anantha Nageswaran, Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India. Dr. Nageswaran provided valuable insights into the current macro-economic scenario and outlined key policy initiatives aimed at bolstering the MSME ecosystem. He underscored the importance of transforming the challenges of global trade into opportunities by harnessing India’s exceptional domestic capabilities and entrepreneurial spirit.

Dr S S Acharya, CMD, NSIC, reaffirmed NSIC’s commitment to advancing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, emphasizing that NSIC will continue to play a pivotal role in enabling the growth, competitiveness and resilience of MSMEs in India. He added that the 70th Foundation Day celebration was not only a tribute to the Corporation’s rich legacy but also a reaffirmation of its resolve to build a stronger and more self-reliant entrepreneurial ecosystem.

A documentary film showcasing NSIC’s seven-decade-long journey and its contributions towards the development of the MSME sector was screened. The film highlighted the milestones achieved by NSIC in areas such as technology support, skill development, market facilitation, and financial inclusion for small businesses across the nation.

The event was attended by S C L Das, Secretary (MSME), Dr Rajneesh, Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner (MSME), Ms Mercy Epao, Joint Secretary (MSME), Dr S S Acharya, CMD, NSIC, besides Directors of NSIC, senior officials from the GoI, representatives of NITI Aayog, Industry Associations, and MSME entrepreneurs. The 70th Foundation Day lecture of NSIC thus served as a significant platform to acknowledge its illustrious journey of service to the nation, while also reaffirming its dedication to empowering India’s MSME sector.
