Andhra Pradesh governance

In a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, directives were issued for data-driven governance in the Revenue Department, mandating resolution of all public grievances and full e-filing of documents by January 15, 2026. Collectors were instructed to use blockchain for digital verification, addressing delays in file processing that have impacted promotions and service benefits. This overhaul targets systemic loopholes, with a focus on same-day file disposal; it’s hailed as a model for southern states to curb “file-pushing” culture.

The state Gazette notified the restructuring of 26 districts into 6 zones under 2 multi-zones for fair local recruitment in government jobs, effective immediately. Local status is based on 7 years of study, applying to direct recruitments; this development promotes region-balanced employment and could influence future IAS/IPS postings by prioritising zonal quotas.

At the Andhra Pradesh Reimagining Public Finance Summit hosted by the Finance Department, India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL) proposed a “subordinated debt” (mezzanine) financing framework to help states bypass Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) constraints for infrastructure projects. This includes sector-specific reserve funds for interest subvention instead of upfront Viability Gap Funding (VGF), potentially unlocking Rs. 10,000+ crore for southern state developments like roads and irrigation.
