Mr. Venkat Nageswar Chalasani highlights that the Indian mutual fund industry is on a strong and structurally sustainable growth path, driven not merely by favourable market conditions but by years of regulatory clarity, institution-building, and sustained investor education. He credits SEBI’s proactive and forward-looking regulatory framework for strengthening investor protection, transparency, risk disclosure, and grievance redressal, which has helped build deep trust in mutual funds as a regulated investment avenue.
AMFI’s investor awareness initiatives, especially the Mutual Funds Sahi Hai campaign, have played a transformative role in changing investor behaviour. By simplifying communication and using regional and vernacular outreach, the campaign has successfully demystified mutual funds and expanded participation across Tier-II, Tier-III cities, and rural India. This growing awareness has supported the rapid rise of SIPs, reflecting a shift towards disciplined, goal-based, long-term investing. Partnerships with the Department of Posts, microfinance institutions, and regional rural banks, along with initiatives like ‘Choti SIP’, are further widening access.
Digital innovation has significantly improved onboarding, transparency, and service efficiency, while AI-based monitoring ensures compliant communication. Looking ahead, AMFI envisions mutual funds as a mainstream household financial product, targeting ₹200 trillion in AUM and over 15 crore investors by 2030. Mutual funds will continue to channel household savings into productive capital, supporting economic growth, infrastructure development, and long-term wealth creation.

After the denial of extension in service to West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant now the big question has arisen over his successor on January 1. Will he be Bengali or non- Bengali ? A big question mark.

IPS Vikas Sahay of 1989-batch, serving as current DGP Gujarat, had his tenure extended until December 31, 2025. His retirement was due on June 30, 2025. No further extension is expected, according to government sources.
Recent reports indicate that Dr. K. L. N. Rao (1992-batch IPS officer and current DG, CID Crime & Railways) is actively positioning himself as the top contender for the role. Earlier in June 2025, he was identified as the front-runner when a list of five senior IPS officers was sent to the Centre for the position.
G. S. Malik (current Ahmedabad Police Commissioner) was noted as a close second earlier, but recent updates suggest he may be eyed for a Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) role if he doesn’t secure the Gujarat post. No official announcement has been made as of now but the process is expected to conclude soon due to the impending vacancy.

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting, slated for December 26 and expected to clear defence purchases worth ₹80,000 crore, has been quietly pushed to next week. Though the Defence Ministry has offered no official reason, senior officials hint the delay coincides “uncomfortably close” to the December 18 CAG report that sharply criticised emergency procurement practices. The audit revealed delays in 72 per cent of such contracts and warned against the Defence Ministry’s trend of “regularising deviations” post‑facto. With several similar cases on the DAC’s current agenda, the timing may have prompted caution within the bureaucracy. Sources say officials sought more time to “bulletproof” the proposals before approval to avoid immediate audit scrutiny. Strategically, the pause lets the ministry rework files and ensure compliance before pushing big procurement clearances early next week.

Eminent editor, author and television broadcaster Alok Mehta (Padma Shri), presented a copy of his latest book “Revolutionary Raj: Narendra Modi’s 25 Years” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Published by Shubhi Publications, the coffee table book offers a comprehensive analysis of Prime Minister Modi’s 25-year public life, highlighting his transformative governance, administrative innovations and major welfare initiatives—from his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat to his leadership as Prime Minister of India.
During the interaction, Mehta and the Prime Minister discussed India’s future vision for progress, the importance of ground-level experience in governance, and people’s expectations from the government. Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need to promote books and libraries, stating that children must be encouraged to develop reading habits. He also underlined the importance of involving students in NCC-like training programmes to inculcate self-discipline, civic responsibility and a strong sense of nationalism.
Mehta also writes in columns & discuss such issues on his YouTube channel 'Editors eye’. He was accompanied by Sanjay Arya, Publisher, Shubhi Publications. The book will soon be available through the Publisher and on Amazon .

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliberate on “Human Capital for Viksit Bharat” with state chief secretaries at a two-day national conference in Delhi on December 27–28. The meeting is part of the Centre’s broader effort to align states with Vision 2047, focusing on capacity building, governance reform, and productivity enhancement. Behind this exercise is a new push from the PM’s Economic Advisory Council, steered by Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran and Sanjeev Sanyal, who have been driving the policy rethink around skilling, regulatory simplification, and data-driven governance. The deliberations will also include special sessions on deregulation in states, leveraging technology in governance, agri stack integration, and strategies for post-LWE region development. The focus signals a coordinated shift toward modernizing India’s administrative and human capital architecture, making states active partners in translating the “Viksit Bharat” vision into actionable frameworks.

Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh urged southern states to align with central personnel reforms under Mission Karmayogi, emphasising digital HR systems to cut cadre review delays and boost training. This “whole-of-government” approach is predicted to accelerate upgradation, with states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu leading in adoption.

Reappointment of IAS officer after retirement ?
Why Govt. reappoint IAS after retirement? Why not government increase the retirement age instead of reappointment? Why not reappoint group B, C & D employees after retirement? Why not government give employment to the youngsters ? Unemployment is at a high peak but neither centre government nor MPs of any party are worried & thinking about it. Serious urgent concern.
Satvinder Sachdeva
Do the details of my passing out match with the official records?
The appellant gave his enrollment number and submitted that he had completed his Diploma in Civil Engineering from a particular University in 2014. He wanted to verify whether these details match with the official data records. The PIO informed that the UGC does not verify the Validation of documents and requested the appellant to approach the concerned University. The CIC observed that the Appellant did not seek for any information as envisaged under Section 2(f) of the RTI Act, rather he sought for clarification or confirmation of a speculative statement. While the PIO attempted to facilitate the Appellant by giving a clarification as though replying to a grievance petition, but the PIO ought to have specified that the Appellant has not asked for any information per se.
Comments
In purely legal terms, the role of the PIO is restricted to providing what is covered under the definition of the term “information” as defined under Section 2(f) of the RTI Act. It would be prudent for the PIO to examine whether the request of the applicant is within the parameters of section 2(f) of the RTI Act and take action accordingly.
