Heritage reborn: NBCC breathes new life into historic Janpath bungalow

NBCC (India) Limited has restored and upgraded Bungalow No. 1, Janpath Road, New Delhi, for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The renovated residence was handed over on October 22, 2026.

Built in the 1930s, the bungalow had become structurally dilapidated after nearly a century of use. NBCC completed its restoration in just three-and-a-half months at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.5 crore.

The project involved extensive structural retrofitting to strengthen the building while preserving its original architectural and heritage features. The upgraded residence combines its traditional aesthetics with modern interiors, sustainable net-zero concepts and landscaped green spaces.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu appreciated NBCC's efforts, particularly its success in retaining the bungalow's heritage character while incorporating contemporary amenities.

Dr. K.P. Mahadevaswamy, CMD of NBCC, said restoring a historic building required engineering precision and respect for its past. He described the timely completion as a reflection of the dedication of Team NBCC and its commitment to quality.

The project adds to NBCC's record of redevelopment, restoration and infrastructure upgradation works for government organisations across the country.
